About the SekondiEducation Trust Fund

The Sekondi Education Fund (SEF) is a non-partisan educational support initiative established by Hon. Blay Nyameke Armah, Member of Parliament for the Sekondi Constituency, to help brilliant but financially challenged students stay in school.

Our Story

Why the Fund Was Established

An institutional response to dropout risk and an opaque paper process — built for accessibility, transparency, and accountability.

The Fund was established to reduce school dropout driven by financial barriers and to replace a fully manual, paper-based scholarship process with a digital platform that improves accessibility, transparency, and accountability for applicants and administrators alike.

Who we serve

Students and families in the Sekondi constituency who demonstrate academic potential and financial need, including pathways into senior high, technical and vocational training, nursing and teacher training, and university study, according to each open award cycle.

The Fund operates under the leadership of Hon. Blay Nyameke Armah, Member of Parliament for Sekondi Constituency.

Our Values

Institutional standards we publish and keep

Six commitments shape how applications are reviewed, decisions are recorded, and public trust is maintained.

  • Integrity

Decisions are recorded, attributable, and free from political favouritism.

  • Transparency

Eligibility, processes, and impact figures are published for public trust.

  • Equity

Support prioritises need and merit so opportunity is not limited by wealth.

  • Accountability

Every application milestone leaves an auditable trail for staff and auditors.

  • Excellence

We invest in students who demonstrate commitment to learning and community.

  • Community

Families, schools, and constituency partners share responsibility for outcomes.

Governance

How the Fund operates

Applicants register online, complete a guided application, upload supporting documents, and track progress in the applicant portal. Constituency staff verify completeness; the review committee records recommendations; Fund administrators record final decisions. Confirmed awards update public impact figures.

Objectives

  • Expand access to secondary, vocational, and tertiary education for eligible students.
  • Operate a fair, auditable application and review process.
  • Publish clear eligibility criteria, timelines, and impact statistics.
  • Partner with schools, guardians, and community stakeholders.
